Na Rumi Passion zet componist Osama Abdulrasol het onderzoek naar de hedendaagse resonantie van het werk van de middeleeuwse soefi-mysticus Rumi verder. In deze wervelende muziektheatervoorstelling met een vernieuwd collectief versmelten muziek, dans en AI-gegenereerde videobeelden tot een zintuiglijke en meeslepende ervaring.
Rumi’s life and writings were shaped by a profound spiritual search for meaning. His words move between loss and ecstasy, tradition and renewal. This tension lies at the heart of Rumi the Outsider. The performance traces the path of a thinker who chose not the comfort of certainty, but the restlessness of inquiry. At its centre is the perspective of the outsider: someone who moves between worlds, never fully belonging, yet able precisely through this position to forge new connections. In an age of growing polarisation, Rumi the Outsider invites audiences to embrace that perspective.
Deze zomer krijgt de voorstelling vorm tijdens de creatie- en repetitieperiode, om vanaf oktober te schitteren op podia in culturele centra doorheen Vlaanderen.
