rumi the outsider

A multidisciplinary music theatre production blending dance, music, and AI-generated visuals

Following Rumi Passion , composer Osama Abdulrasol continues his exploration of the contemporary relevance of the work of the medieval Sufi mystic Rumi. In this vibrant music theatre production, a newly assembled ensemble brings together music, dance, and AI-generated video art in a sensory and immersive experience.

Rumi’s life and writings were shaped by a profound spiritual search for meaning. His words move between loss and ecstasy, tradition and renewal. This tension lies at the heart of Rumi the Outsider. The performance traces the path of a thinker who chose not the comfort of certainty, but the restlessness of inquiry. At its centre is the perspective of the outsider: someone who moves between worlds, never fully belonging, yet able precisely through this position to forge new connections. In an age of growing polarisation, Rumi the Outsider invites audiences to embrace that perspective.

Through hypnotic soundscapes, poetic imagery, and expressive dance, Rumi the Outsider offers a contemporary tribute to Rumi’s timeless philosophy: that the search itself, however lonely it may sometimes be, can open the way to a deeper encounter with others.
