Ananta Roosens is a violinist and violist, a trumpeter and vocalist and a composer involved in a wide range of projects.

With her solo project 'Ceci n’est pas un violon', Ananta steps outside her comfort zone and sets out to start afresh, questioning her musical identity and direction. Using violins, her voice and a few everyday household objects, she embarks on an unexpected journey into the unknown. The project has since evolved into collaborations with Iranian kamancheh player Mostafa Taleb, Burkinabè multidisciplinary artist Kaito Winse, Togolese percussionist Octave Komlan and Portuguese guitarist and visual artist Norberto Lobo.

As a musician, composer and artistic director, Ananta is regularly invited to contribute to multidisciplinary productions and a wide variety of ensembles and projects. Her collaborations include Studio Eclipse, Gotan Project, Fnussjen, Lynn Cassiers, Oba Loba, Ibrahim Ferrer, Mógil and many others.

She currently leads her own distinctive music discovery workshops for both the very youngest children and older age groups. She also presents "The Violin Out of the Box", a talk for music students who want to broaden their musical horizons and explore new sonic possibilities.
