BIO
Osama Abdulrasol is an Iraqi composer, qanun player and visual artist. Born in Babylon, Iraq, he studied western music (classical guitar) in the United Kingdom and eastern music (qanun or Arabic lap harp) in Iraq.
Osama has written music for film and theater and performs both with his own ensemble and with bands of various backgrounds. He is in great demand as a soloist at home and abroad. Among others, he has played as a soloist for the National Orchestra of Belgium, the Symphony Orchestra of Flanders and Brussels Jazz Orchestra.
In 2013, he won the City of Ghent's Culture Prize for his extraordinary musical personality and cultural merits.

Within his compositions, Osama combines Arabic music with jazz, Indian, Turkish, Western and experimental music. He currently plays with his own projects including (In Search of) New Flemish Masters, Rumi passion and the Osama Abdulrasol Quintet.

He has performed and toured with Goran Bregovic, the Dutch Metropole Orkest, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Lucilla Galeazzi, Claron McFadden, Roby Lakatos, Assala Nasri, Jahida Wehbe, Tom Robinson, Dick Van der Harst, Waed Bou Hassoun, Arifa, Olla Vogala, Lula Pena, Les ballets C de la B and various other groups and musical theater productions, among others.
