Joris Vanvinckenroye
Joris Vanvinckenroye is a double bass player, composer, and artistic coordinator of Cluster. Together with his brothers, he founded the folk/pop/rock band Troissoeur, performing for years at home and abroad and leaving a lasting imprint on the Belgian music scene. After a hiatus, the group reunited, effortlessly continuing their adventurous musical journey.
In 2002, Joris founded the acoustic, instrumental avant-folk ensemble Aranis. For 17 years, the group brought a singular blend of folk, classical influences, and contemporary experimentation to life, earning awards, nominations, and invitations to perform across Europe, Japan, and the United States.
Through his solo project BASta!, he pushes the boundaries of double bass and live electronics, weaving rich, experimental soundscapes with loop stations and innovative techniques. His third album, BASta! III, marks another milestone in this ongoing exploration. He also performs with MOTYK (formerly Flairck) and the Global Music Ensemble, continually expanding his musical horizons.
Beyond his own projects, Joris is a sought-after collaborator in music, theater, and multidisciplinary productions, working with companies such as Compagnie Rode Boom and Retina Dance Company.
