The Tehran Sessions
Tehran. Children playing in the street, shopkeepers behind their stalls, well-educated young people looking for work, artists who explore the boundaries of what they can and are allowed to express. In a city where time stands still and yet lives fully in the now.

BIO

Thomas' companions for this edition are on the one hand Soroosh Gharahmanloo, a tall man with an epic beard and a renowned name in Iran as a setar player and singer, and on the other hand Farnoosh Khodadadeh who once emigrated to Belgium out of love and now acts as an interpreter on her Iranian frame drum. Together with filmmaker Jonatan Lyssens, they also record everything on a sensitive record and provide a visual story that complements, counters, and comments on the music and songs. The end result consists of a series of concerts with accompanying images and with additional contributions by Robbe Kieckens on percussion and Anaïs Moffart on double bass, a concert film based on those concerts, a CD, and a photo report.
