Supporting Global Music Artists

In Flanders, an incredibly fascinating, innovative, but still unknown stream of contemporary music is growing for the general public that can no longer be classified under one or two labels. It is the resounding result of a generation of composers who find their way in a very diverse society. No boxes, no taboos, no style restrictions. Just strong, quality and surprising music. Cluster is the collective of these artists. She wants to give this music a full place in the current range of music. Composers and musicians join forces through Cluster.

Cluster projects

Our artists are active as both composers and performing musicians in a wide range of bands and ensembles. They create, perform, experiment, and shape unique musical projects at home and abroad. From intimate line-ups to large-scale productions — explore a selection of their recent work and collaborations here.

composers

Cluster is a collective of seven composers and musicians — each with their own artistic projects and vision. They take the lead as artistic directors of their work and help shape the direction and creative focus of Cluster.

Ananta Roosens is a violinist, trumpeter and composer currently living in Brussels. She is one of the founders of La Sieste Du Dromadaire with whom she recorded the album 'Tango from a dromedary point of view' in 2013 with special guests Gerardo Jerez Le Cam and Iacob Maciuca for the recordings.
Joris Vanvinckenroye is a composer, double bassist and founder of Aranis and BASta! He was the founder and composer of Troissoeur, during which time he worked and toured with Sandy Dillon, Daniel B and Satoshi Takeishi.
Maarten Decombel is the regular string man in Snaarmaarwaar, MANdolinMAN, and Naragonia Quartet. He also sings with Spilar and is currently touring with the international cross-over project Sauvage — a reimagining of Rameau’s Pièces de Clavecin for a hybrid orchestra featuring musicians from jazz, folk, and classical backgrounds.
Osama Abdulrasol is a composer, producer and qanun player. He also has skills in fine arts. Born in Babylon, Iraq, he studied classical guitar in the UK and qanun, the Arabic lap harp, in Iraq.
Stan Nieuwenhuis is a young composer and musician. His roots are in the Netherlands, but he grew up in Brussels and currently lives in Antwerp.
Thomas Noël is a creative jack-of-all-trades who blends music and visuals, combining a strong sense of roots with a broad, outward-looking perspective on the world.
Wouter Vandenabeele is a versatile violinist, arranger, and composer with a strong international reputation. He has collaborated with artists from around the world — including Senegalese violinist Issa Sow — and led major projects such as the Hadzidakis concert for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. His work moves effortlessly between tradition and innovation.
